Today, I’m going to share an email I received today from Pastor Gabriel C. Stovall of the RhemaWord Outreach Ministry which I am a member of the email list. This message, I feel, conveys exactly what I feel. I think that in order for people to like you, you have to show people who you REALLY are. You can’t be conforming yourself to fit what people expect you to be and think that they’re going to like and accept you for who you are, when they’re not seeing you.
So, take a look at this message……unedited, uncut, and unadulterated(sp?)……
Let Them Leave
The following verses tell us how the thoughts, feelings and opinions of others changed as Jesus really started revealing who He was:
John 6:60: “Therefore many of His disciples, when they heard this, said ‘This is a hard saying; who can understand it?” Verse 66: “From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more.”
7:1 – “After these things, Jesus walked in Galilee; for He did not want to walk in Judea, because the Jews (same ones praising him in chapter 5) sought to kill Him.” Verse 5: “For even His brothers did not believe in Him.”
8:43 – “So there was a DIVISION among the people because of Him.”
The lesson from our Master is this: You cannot always tell the effectiveness of your ministry or yourself as a man or woman of God based on how many agree with you, how many pat you on the back or how many stay in your corner. If you want to know who’s REALLY with you, who’s TRULY in your corner and who’s assuredly supporting your cause, let them find out the REAL you! Let them see who you REALLY are. Let them taste your PASSION and let them get a glimpse of the motivation that drives you. Let them see the characteristics of Christ come alive in you…not just the love, grace and mercy…but also the strength, confidence and controversy that comes with you being true to who GOD made you and standing firm to what He has placed in you, regardless of how uncomfortable people become. It is only then that you truly find out who YOU really are and who God has truly ordained to connect with you in pursuit of your purpose! So if people walk away from your church, your ministry, your friendship circle or your life because they have a problem with you being who God has made you, let them leave! Don’t be mean. Don’t be nasty. And by all means, don’t do anything to chase them away. But if they can’t handle who you ARE they don’t need to remain. I love you all!
